And speaking of "when you are ready"...make sure that you find a place to write your stories that will allow you to think and write without interruptions. The atmosphere you choose is very important, AND it is different for everyone.

To find a place that's best for you, ask yourself these questions:

  • Do you get distracted easily?

  • Do you think better in noisy or quiet places?

  • Do you resist change or do you like change?

  • Do you get cold or warm temperatures better?

  • Are you a "city person" or a "country person"?

  • Do you like to be outside?

  • Are you a "homebody"?

  • What are your favorite snacks/drinks?

You want to find the most comfortable place you can find to think and write because there will be less distractions and your brain will work better.

I love fresh air and I love to be outside, I also get cold easily, and I am easily distracted, I also love being at home - Knowing this about myself, I have realized that the very best place for me is:

  • In my backyard

  • Sitting at a table

  • With an umbrella

  • On my patio

  • With a Diet Coke

  • Wearing a sweater

  • And typing on my laptop

It doesn't matter what time of day as much as just making sure no one is home so I don't get interrupted because once I'm "in the zone" I like to keep going, and if I get interrupted, I have a hard time getting re-focused, and I lose momentum. I know this about me because I have asked myself the above questions.

I don't always choose to sit outside and write because it's not always convenient, but when I feel stuck, or unmotivated, or my brain won't think, I will often change my location (usually to the patio because I know it's a good place for me) and somehow it seems to "reset my brain" and I'm off and rolling again.

I also know that I like change. Doing the same thing in the same way - over and over again - gets boring SO I also like to find new places to write. I have made a list of some places you could consider writing your stories - some might seem crazy and some just might work for you. Here is the list...
