Let's talk about your achievements today! They are a great part of your life and I think they should be documented, along with your other stories.

You might be saying, "I haven't done anything worth documenting."

And my response will be, "Everyone has had some success in their lifetime, you just need to tune in to them."

I think it will be fun to write about the good things you have done, the difference you have made, and the accomplishments you have achieved.

When I tell people to write about the good things, people tell me they don't want to sound like they are bragging. I agree with this but you CAN do it in a way that tones it down, and I want to help you with that.

You might consider using sentences similar to these examples:

  • I was so shocked when I won ____ and it made me feel _____.

  • Being able to _____ has taught me ______.

  • Getting the _____award has reminded me that ______.

  • It felt so good to ______ because I wanted to ______.

When you include what you learned or how it made you feel, it tones down the "braggy" part of the story.

Here are a few other guidelines to help you share your accomplishments without sounding "braggy."

  • Share the struggles you went through to get to that point

  • Keep the emphasis on your hard work

  • Don't belittle anyone

  • Give credit where credit is due, especially if you had help

  • Share a sense of wonder about the accomplishment

  • Use humor where it's appropriate

  • Include the story behind the success

  • Always express gratitude

  • Be authentic

When you follow these guidelines, you will be able to tell about the good things you have done and others will learn about some wonderful parts of your life. If you still question your writing, remember you can always ask someone you trust to read your story to make sure you are on track.

I hope this helps you on your journey to write your stories. If you are looking for more ideas and help, I have created a private Facebook Group of people who can also support you.
