How Do You Handle Jet Lag?

Me, my sister-Karen, and her son-Cody, arrived in London at around 11 am on a Friday morning after having traveled for 12 hours and sleeping for just a few of them. Karen told me that we needed to stay awake all day and go to bed early our first night there to handle the jet lag. I also heard Karen tell her son, Cody, “we are going to sleep in until we wake up, and with no alarms”.

Karen closed the blackout curtains and we all fell asleep at around 8:00pm. When I woke up, my phone said it was 10:00 and I thought to myself, “wow, we were really tired to sleep in so late. I could hear people and cars driving by outside our window and I could see the sunlight barely peeking through the edge of the blackout curtains.
I laid there waiting for others to wake up and instead, I fell back asleep. The next time I woke up it was 1:00 and Karen and Cody were still asleep. I thought I had better get up because we had things planned for the day and maybe while I was getting ready it would wake them both up. So I took a shower, got dressed and when I came out of the bathroom my sister Karen was sitting up in her bed and looking at her phone. I sat on my bed for a while and she just kept on playing with her phone.
Here we are in LONDON and we are wasting time sleeping when we should be out sight-seeing. I was starting to feel a little bit impatient and finely said to her,” are we still going to have time to go to Greenwich today since it’s so late in the day?” Karen looked up and chuckled and said “whatever”. A little shocked by her response, I then asked if our plans had changed and she looked up and said, “are you being serious?” I said “yes, I kind of wanted to go to Greenwich today.” She then reached for the blackout curtains and pulled them aside and said, it’s 2:00 in morning, see it’s still dark outside.”
I was so surprised! She was right. The light coming between the blackout curtains and the wall was from the street lamps and I got confused and thought it was the middle of the day! We spent the next 20 minutes laughing so hard our stomachs hurt.
Then I crawled back into bed with my clothes and makeup on and slept “carefully” until the “real morning.” At least I was ready for the day the minute I woke up!

We did make it to Greenwich - here's proof! ⬆️😊
