Create a PERSONAL HISTORY That is Easy to Write and Fun to Read

Several years ago I was at a friend’s house and she was showing me the four volumes that her mother had written of her Personal History before she passed. Each book was around 2 inches thick. It was so amazing but I felt an overwhelming sense of sadness that I would never have anything like that for my family. You see, I’m not a writer and I would never want to spend the time, or even enjoy, writing my entire life in chronological order into thousands of pages, even though I would love for people to know my stories.
It was interesting to me that, even though my friend was proud of these books and had thumbed through them a little, she had never read them all the way through and expressed that she probably never will. They were simply too long, too detailed, and would take too much time.
That’s when I decided there has to be another way – a way that allows people who don’t consider themselves writers – to write their stories in a simplified way that others will be interested in reading.
SHORT STORY FORMAT is the answer…writing your stories one at a time, individually, and giving them their own title.
If you are overwhelmed by the thought of writing your personal history but want to be remembered. Then this is your answer.
This process also allows a person to write the stories they want to be remembered by AND to focus on the interesting and memorable stories – you know…the stories that others will want to read. And keeping them short will mean that they will get read. Everyone has time to write AND read a “short story.”
Here's a reminder from Dr. Seuss...

Happy Memory Making!!!
